Silence on the rocks.
Silence on the rocks.

Leaving las Vegas is not done with any sorrow. Im not a gambler and I am one of those, thinking that even if you have the money to gamble away you should still put them to better use. Why not gamble them in some enterprise that is trying to find a new energy resource or invest in some ones business idea that might benefit the masses. Better yet if you are in the need to give your money away, give it to some one that really need it. There are lot of children in this world that are starving and deserve a second chance in life.
Vegas to me is not a very happy city. It might be influenced by me getting sick while being there, but i don't think its so. Vegas is a playground for grown up people and as such I think they should be having fun, but I could not really sense it. Bored or stressed out was more the feeling. There is still a lot to be done beside gambling in Las Vegas and numerous shows to be seen if you are in the need to be entertained.
When this is written Im in Indian Cove in Joshua Tree national Park and my oh my is silence as golden as the first rays of sun climbing down the rock formations surrounding the area.

In Vegas we had been sleeping in a car park near New Frontier hotel. Not far from one of the main traffic lane towards the strip. We had constant noise of cars whooshing by. On top of that you have the speakers from each and every hotel on full blast when walking the Strip. As If that was not enough, you have these giant advertising billboards that puke out the sound also. If you try to seek cover from all this inside you get the dingle dangle from slot machines, and even in the shopping malls nobody seems to like the silence.
When going out to have a quality time, the two of us ,we searched for a nice coffee house or a lounge with laid back jazz music. It was nowhere to be found.
Even if you find some nice lounge an go there for a drink. Your quality time is interrupted constantly by the waitresses. If they are not dancing on your table, with their but in your face, they are there face to face, trying to sell you more drinks.
It is there for with grate enthusiasm that I am back in Joshua Tree. Here there is silence and you can enjoy the company of your self and yours. You can still gamble. Gamble wether it is more beautiful around the corner of the rock formation in front of you or not. You constantly win. The beauty is such and if nothing else you win the lottery of living happily a bit longer because of your walking exercise in the nature, amongst adventurous formations that far succeeds the copytheworldsbuildingheritage of Las Vegas or the superficial theme parks. Here you have rock with out the noise, here you have all the characters you want, on the rocks. That is if you let loose the child in you and live your imagination.

Los Vegas
Brian Hanson, MN U.S.A
Kristian well put about Las Vegas I don't want any part of it. I don't know if you remember me but I met you at the St.Croix State park in Minnesota you talked with my Dad he brought you up to the fire tower to shoot some pictures. I have recently bought a new Canon 30d and have been quickly finding out about the photography sickness, Tripods you told me to get a good tripod lenses timers flashes bags filters you know the list goes on and loving every minute of it. You added me the other night as a contact on Flickr I just tried to put up a few pictures to see how it goes. I really enjoyed talking with you about your adventures in the park and hope everything is going well it's great to see people getting to do what you have had enough courage just to go and live out a dream. If you have any comments for me or advice I would really appreciate it. Thanks Brian
